Is cooking sous vide safe?

Yes! Here are some things to keep in mind when cooking sous vide:

  1. Always be sure to keep your food out of the 'Danger Zone.' This means ensuring that food is not resting in temperatures between 40ºF and 140ºF for more than a few hours
  2. Cooking in plastic bags is perfectly safe. Resealable freezer grade bags contain polyethylene which doesn't contain additives like BPA or phthalate
  3. Always be sure you're storing food properly after your cooks if you aren't planning on eating your meal immediately. It's recommended to toss your bagged food in an ice bath prior to refrigerating

As with any other health concerns, please consult your medical professionals for more information about safety when consuming sous vide prepared meals specific to your diet.
